Camp Out

Camp, Climb & Hike
in the Beartooth mountains, Montana

Break out of daily life and join us for the 3 day Camp Out weekend. Mindful and recharging climbing and hiking are awaiting you. Spend two nights at a campground in Red Lodge with showers.

Three days of rock climbing and hiking in the Beartooth Mountains with a full female team! Werther you like to rock climb and dive into hard and soft skills or like to explore the mountains by foot, day 1 and 2 offer both activities! Day 3 is an optional multi-pitch day or a summit of a local mountain on foot. 

Group

Our minimum group size is 4 and max. is 8 participants. You will meet other adventurous ladies that are keen to explore new areas and activities!

Difficulty & Fitness

This weekend is suitable for beginners and intermediate rock climbers. You don't need to know how to lead climb - we will set up topropes. If you are an experienced climber we can work on any mental or technical skills you would like to work on. For the ones that are not afraid of heights: one day of multi-pitch climbing is included.
The trails for hiking will be chosen based on participants' preferences and abilities.

Weather

The mountains are not as predictible as other topographical features and we might encouter some rain. We will be prepared with rain gear and warm layers! June - September are the most stable month in the Beartooth mountains and we are planning on sunshine and dry days.

Getting there

You can fly either into Billings airport or Yellowstone (Bozeman) airport and drive with your rental car (or carpool) to Red Lodge. We will meet you the next day at 9 am in Red Lodge at our office and caravan to the trailhead or meet at the trailhead directly.

Lodging & Gear

We will reserves campsites at a campground with showers for participants in the town of Red Lodge. On Saturday evening we are planning to go out for dinner at the Perogative Kitchen in Red Lodge.

If you don't have your own tent, sleeping bag and pad, you can rent one with us. (please inquire early, limited availability)

You can rent (no charge) climbing harnesses, shoes and helmets. Please bring a backpack (30L +),hiking poles, bearspray and potentially your yoga matt. Your guides will provide anything else climbing  related. Once the trip is booked we will send you a complete gear list.

Difficulty: 

Beginner - Intermediate, 5.6 - 5.11 climbers

Fitness:

Ability to be outside for a couple of hours

Anju Samuelson

Anju grew up in Berlin, Germany and calls Montana now her home. As a rock and alpine guide she appreciates the power of female bond in the mountains. She has been climbing for 10 years all over Europe, the US and South America. Her passion is to explore cultures through rock climbing trips, that is why she speaks German, English, Spanish and some Turkish. She is also passionate about mental health and continuously explores the world of emotional awareness and perception. In her free time she is found rock climbing, ice climbing or skiing. Day 1

 9 am Meet and greet in Red Lodge at the Cattail Bakery, get some snacks for the day

10 am heading to crag or for a hike

4 pm check-in at Campground

Day 2

8 am Breakfast

9 am Rock Climbing or Hiking in the area

4 pm Campground

6 pm Dinner at Prerogative Kitchen Restaurant

Day 3

7 am Breakfast

8 am Multi-Pitch Climbing or Mountain Summit (for example Metcalf Mountain)

4 pm Wrap-Up, Departure
