Course Details
This introductory level course is built to show climbers the basics of ice climbing. The main goal is to get lots of climbing done on a variety of ice angles. Participants will learn about ice climbing movement, equipment, and belaying. This is also a fun way to explore the Montana in the winter!

This course is 1 day long and starts with a briefing at our office in Red Lodge.
Here, we discuss the clothing and equipment needed for ice climbing before caravanning to East Rosebud. After a short approach, we spend the day ice climbing at Hellroaring Falls, learning structured movement on ice.
The main goal of this course is to provide participants with a comfortable and safe first ice climbing experience. We make it a point to get lots of climbing done and stress learning proper techniques from the get go!
