It is also a great way to experience the Montana Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem firsthand!

Skills Covered:

  • Preparation for a day of climbing

  • Packing the right equipment

  • Basic knots & hitches

  • Climbing movement

  • Climbing calls & communication

  • Top rope belaying

  • Rappelling

This course is typically 1 day long and starts with a briefing at our office and gear depot in Red Lodge. Here, we discuss logistics for a day of climbing and what to look for in a crag. From the office, we caravan 15 minutes down the road to a roadside cliff, where we can practice basic skills and start climbing. The main goal of this course is to provide participants with plenty of climbing in a wide spectrum of difficulties, along with all of the skills required to climb with another experienced climber.
