Austin grew up in Montana and started early on exploring the Beartooth mountains. He has 15 years of climbing, skiing, mountaineering and guiding expereince in Montana, Wyoming and Washington with expedition experience in South America, Antarctica, Canada and Africa. He is a also professional ski patrol and owner/operator of Beartooth Basin Summer Ski Area.
